Bounce back

So, this morning, I was thinking about shows that had a great first couple of seasons, then dipped down, yet in the end made a comeback. But I could not actually think of any. Is this possible? Felicity is the only example that might work. It never got back to season 1 glory, but season 3 was a big improvement over season 2 (it wasn't the hair's fault!)

Can anyone think of a show? Help me. Give me hope. Cause I really want Alias and The OC to get back to their former greatness. Surely they have not really gone the way of Smallville.

hmmmm. .
Friends.

ER--back and forths a lot, but I do believe it's now stuck at back

Buffy--also went good then bad then good again (things got a lot better after Riley went away)

that's all I got for now

You might have a point there. Season 5 as a whole (ingoring shiny, shiny monk hair) was better than Season 4, I guess. However, minus the Adam part, Season 4 was pretty good. There was the Cathy storyline, the Spike and Harmony storyline, the introduction of Anya and her bunniphobia. But few things can top The Body and the BuffyBot. Would you rate Season 5 better, or as good as, Seasons 1-3?

And ER? It was never as good as when Benton was an asshole, Carter was cute and sweet, and Doug Ross charmed the panties off of every female he twinkled his eyes at. Freaking George Clooney owes me a huge Victoria's Secret shopping spree. While the Croation Sensation was pleasant, Abby, Mark, Pratt and Sam tarnish the former greatness.

Friends was always good, but never as great as the first two seasons.

Can't speak much for television shows, but in movies, the subsequent sequels and prequels usually suck uncontrollably when compared to the first...

...Except for once in cinematic history. Evil Dead 2 was better than the first and the last movie. Anyone who's seen all three will agree with me. Army of Darkness was pretty good, but ED2 was just super hilarious.
